It’s been another good week with some challenging weather and some hot days.The surf, bridge or pier have all been producing a good variety of catches – as always let’s start in the north and move south.
North surf Oregon inlet to Corolla. (73-79) some sea mullet, spot, lots of croaker, pompano, couple flounder, puppy drum and blues
North piers – (68-75) good week with sea mullet, spot, good runs of croaker, sand perch, sea bass, sheepshead, trigger fish, flounder, good runs of Spanish, grey trout, and blues.
Sound bridges (Daniels, Wildlife pier and Bebop) (78) Early morning anglers caught trout, lots of sheepshead – mixed sizes, and lots of small bottom fish. Mid day fishing slowed up a little. Plenty of crabs on the small western platform. Wildlife pier had croaker, trout and lots of crabs. Bebop pier trout and puppy drum. Even heard some catfish around the Bebop pier.
HATTERAS ISLAND
South surf to Hatteras Village (82) surf anglers caught sea mullet, spot, good runs of croaker, nice pompano, good size flounder (released), grey trout, Spanish and bluefish. Couple days and sharks.
Remember Nesting season – CHNS has some access areas limited and some are closed. Check their website daily.
South piers – (78-80) good week not super with sea mullet, some spot, croakers, pompano, blues and Spanish mackerel.
Ocracoke Island – (79-82) Sea mullet, pompano, blues, Spanish and puppy drum.
Bonner bridge – (78) good numbers of sheepshead early in the week then real slow just some spot, small sea bass and small blues. Need moving water so watch tides. Bugs are still a major issue especially after dark.
