08-09-24 – Fishing Report
Wind, rain and Debby was the topic all week. And she is not done yet. Fishing was average for those that got out. A lot slower than past several weeks. Fish are scattered, most anglers need to work at catching. As always, let’s start in the north and move south.
NORTH OF OREGON INLET
North surf Oregon inlet to Corolla. (68) sea mullet, spot, croaker, pompano, blues and puppy drum
North piers – (65-69) sea mullet, spot, croaker, sheepshead, sand perch and small flounder.
Sound bridges (Daniels, Wildlife pier and Bebop) (73) Very slow this week with a few trout, small sheepshead, needlefish, and some small bottom fish. Lots of crabs
HATTERAS ISLAND
South surf to Hatteras Village (80)
Sea mullet, croakers, pompano, small founder, blues Spanish, ribbon fish and sharks and rays.
As a reminder it’s turtle and bird nesting season – CHNS has some access areas limited and some are closed. Check their website daily.
South piers – (76-80) sea mullet, spot, pompano, blues and Spanish.
Ocracoke Island – (79-82) Sea mullet, several good size pompano, few puppy drum and blues.
Bonner bridge – (75) Very slow with some sheepshead and one puppy drum. Wind and rain prevented much action. Top to fishing this bridge, use tides to your advantage. Fish high and low on back sides of the bridge base
